Just thinking about The Poetry Store brings a smile to my lips and tears to my eyes. When planning our non-traditional wedding at The Sunnyside Conservatory several years ago, I stumbled across Silvi Alcivar, a talented San Francisco-based artist. Silvi writes on-demand poems on her vintage Red Royal Custom II typewriter at corporate and private events through her business, The Poetry Store. The way it works is pretty straightforward. Silvi sets up her writing space with her vintage desk, typewriter, and selection of pretty paper. You tell Silvi who your poem is for and what you want it to be about. In minutes, you will walk away, your poem in hand, either crying or laughing. Silvi is a creative genius and a kind soul. Guests were awestruck, and we were lucky to include her on our special day. I’m always looking for opportunities to work with her again!
